A bee was caught by the rain and was no longer able to fly. Conclusion dear bee - when it rains you stay at home or you take an umbrella with you.
I know there is a shortage of insects, which is very worrying, but this only hit home to me after I returned from a 830 mile journey, and there was hardly an insect on the windscreen or bumper...Years ago had to stop after twenty miles to clean them off...I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to why this is happening.

A four shot verto-pano. I tried to be more creative with my entries for the various categories of LPOTY 2023 (Landscape Photographer of the Year) this year. I managed to get two shortlisted last year so this year I thought I would give it another go. Didn't do me any good though! All rejected. Anyone else more successful? I came to the conclusion I was wasting my time (and money). Will anyone see the beauty of such a shot as above, or is being uncreative and unimaginative all part of the "landscape" discipline?
If you haven't seen this before it's the extrordinary effect of the black grit being washed down from Ardnamurchan's surrounding volcanic mountains in streams that cross the white seashell sand of Fascadale Bay. Tide, waves, wind and gravity create fascinating patterns and shapes where they mix the dark and light sand and grit.
i bought this toothbrush holder that was pretty gross...and after cleaning it up and polishing it, i had to question how anyone could use it. stainless steel would show every drop of water and other stuff (ick) every time it was used unless the toothbrush was thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and dried! conclusion: poor design and a way to make an ocd person positively bonkers. solution: stick a marble in it.

It was amazing I captured this shot as I squelched back in my wellies having immersed myself in the sea in an attempt to wash off the mud I had accumulated in a close encounter with the notorious quicksand mud of Morecambe Bay!

Of course I didn't jump. I didn't even try.
Firstly, I'm not a cat and secondly, I don't suffer from chronic overestimation of myself. In addition, my life and my physical integrity are very important to me (even if it sometimes seems otherwise). However, none of that stopped me from at least climbing up there to take a photo. To be exact, I climbed up there four times until I found a composition that I liked. But who's counting?
The Elbe Sandstone Mountains, including the Uttewalder Grund, where I am at the moment, is really a fantastic playground for the child in me. Probably one of the reasons, besides the photographic aspect, that triggers my fascination for this region.
By the way, when I come back from trips like this I always look like a child who has spent the whole day on the playground, in bad weather and without an adult around.
The more I look at the photo the more I come to the conclusion that I need a flashier jacket. Somehow I almost blend into the background. What do you all mean ?
Was meint Ihr ?

The red blob in the center confused me. How can it be on the back wall, and also reflected in the mirrored door? So I went with B&W in yesterday’s post, for clarity. Eventually I realized that the answer was obvious: don’t jump to conclusions.

I
no se desvía del plan de Dios o de lo que ha anticipado;

A couple of summers ago I thought Pileated Woodpeckers were nesting in this hollowed-out tree trunk on Armand Bayou but I have since come to the conclusion that they only use it as an Airbnb when they find themselves in the area at bedtime. This single male poked his head out just before sunrise, popped out again on the backside and hammered a couple of tentative blows, then quickly departed for better breakfast choices over on Horsepen.

DEMAIN !!!

IT IS TOO LATE TO SAVE THE SUMMER SEA ICE IN THE ARCTIC AND THE REPERCUSSIONS WILL BE LITERALLY CATASTROPHIC !
A new study reveals that our greenhouse gas emissions have a greater impact on global warming than predicted by the IPCC.
This is no longer a surprise to anyone, at least outside the dark corners of certain social networks: the sea ice is melting. For decades, the Arctic has served as an example to illustrate our impact on the Earth's climate. And the more it disappears, the more the scientific community urges societies to do more.
Humanity is responsible for almost all of the ice melting
A recent study, led by Seung-Ki Min of Pohang University in South Korea, has come up with new estimates of Arctic sea ice melt, based on new data. His team's results add another layer to general alarmism: the sea ice is melting much faster than feared.
Indeed, the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) had predicted that the region would lose its summer ice by the 2040s. This new study is even more pessimistic, since it claims that this could happen ten years earlier. This is an interesting landmark, because it is at the end of this season that the pack ice reaches its annual minimum.
To reach this conclusion, Min's team first looked at the impact of increased greenhouse gases on melting ice compared to other natural factors. Humankind is responsible for 90% of this, researchers say. The rest would be attributable to variations in solar intensity or volcanic eruptions, for example.
Such a large human impact on melting ice means that the efforts required to sufficiently slow global warming may have been underestimated until now. For Min, "we need to reduce CO₂ emissions more ambitiously and prepare to adapt to this faster warming of the Arctic". Indeed, his study establishes that, even if the increase in global temperature is limited to 2°C, summer ice will still have disappeared by 2050.
And the researcher recalls the effects that this will have on our climate: "an increase in the extreme weather phenomena that we are currently experiencing, such as heat waves, forest fires and floods". Indeed, the melting of the ice leads to changes in the jet stream that crosses the northern hemisphere, a rapid air current that helps regulate the climate in North America, Europe and Asia.
Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado, sums it up pretty well: "The key message is that we are losing control of the sea ice." Especially since, the more the ocean is exposed, the more it absorbs heat, thus resulting in a vicious circle which will be always more difficult and longer to reverse, or even stop.
Of course, this is not about giving up on the rapidly evolving energy transition, as global warming above 2°C could have far more dire consequences.
HOWEVER, 2030 IS LESS THAN TEN YEARS AWAY, AND ON THE SCALE OF OUR SOCIETY, THAT MEANS... TOMORROW !!!

Marie Lou and her friend talk while walking back through a flower field before night fall
Friend : Did you ever wondered what we are for ?
Marie Lou : Hmmm... ?
Friend : Yeah, I mean why do we exist, why does anything exist in the first place...
Marie Lou : I don't know... All I know is that we have to fulfill our goals and dreams about what we currently know about the world
Friend : Totally, to go forward in our world, we need to accomplish goal, but are they real ? Or are we just a bit of imaginary ?
Marie Lou : I think we are all imaginary, our minds, our reality, our perception, nothing could be real. All locked behinf the curtain of stimulus of mind
Friend : Right...
Marie Lou : *sigh* Don't be troubled (Marie Lou smiled gently), let just our false reality be replaced by our dreams
Friend : (smile back at Marie Lou) Yeah, maybe one day we will figure it out
Marie Lou : That would be great ! Or at least I hope so. Do you wish to look at the stars with me ?
Friend : You bet !
The two friends lying down in the flower bed, staring at the night sky discussing about daily activities and theories before falling asleep under the slight summer breeze.
Saludos.
For the Finale of 'The Good Stuff', My Favorite Designers series, I've got 5 of the Original ladies from LaurenLand to model for me!
Top left is Petra in VM Designs
Top Middle is Marianne in Clear-lan
Top Right is Lissa in Clear-lan
Bottom left is Lisa in YokoDolls, and Bottom right is Liv in VM Designs
This was really fun for me to do and also a way I wanted to thank all who created these fashions.
The drawers behind the girls are all Clear-lan fashions.
Also I'm not sure if the names showed up on the boxes in earlier photos, so if they didn't there's Cozy Couture, and Hazel Street Designs who are also favorites of mine!
PS ... I didn't have time to put shoes on the ladies!!
A fungus seen on my walk yesterday. I've come to the conclusion that with the exception of some obvious types of fungi, most are very difficult to identify. I'm hoping I've got this one correct - but I am happy to be told otherwise.

The beautiful 1970 registered E-Type Jaguar was seen on a recent visit to Hornsea. I had a good look at the wire wheels and came to the conclusion that they would take a couple of hours to clean after each trip out. Apart from that I would love one of these in my garage.
Given that the owner must appreciate everyone stopping to take a look at his sparkling motor I decided that he was well used to being in the public eye. For that reason I didn't bother blanking out the number plate.
